Los Angeles, CA (November 1, 2018) — University Credit Union, a $650 million financial cooperative focused exclusively on the University Community, proudly accepted the Leadership Award this month at the 37th Annual Loyola Marymount University Latino Alumni Association Scholarship Awards Dinner.  

 

Alfred Fraijo, Jr. J.D, Latino Alumni Association Board Member, introduced UCU as this year’s honoree and presented Dr. David Tuyo, President & CEO of UCU with the award. UCU is committed to LMU and helping Latinos pursue a Jesuit education. Over the next five years, UCU will distribute $30,000 in scholarships to help advance the next generation of Latino leaders. 

 

The Latino Alumni Association’s mission is to provide need-based tuition assistance to LMU students who demonstrate a commitment to their academics and to the LMU community. Currently, 21% of LMU students are of Latino descent.

Some past initiatives include establishing the UCU Food Pantry to help combat student hunger and hosting a Build-A-Bike® Team Building Event to donate bikes to the LMU Children’s Center.
