At the beginning of last year, my message to you was one of optimism. We knew the worldwide pandemic would continue to create challenges large and small, but, I knew University Credit Union could tackle them and achieve successes despite the “new normal” we faced. As I write this one year later, I am proud to share what our team and members accomplished.
70th Anniversary
2021 marked our 70th anniversary as a not-for-profit cooperative serving the University Community. The celebration lasted all year long with exciting promotions and wonderful opportunities to give back to our members. It was humbling to recognize this milestone and celebrate it in so many ways, including giving back to the university communities we serve.
Member Growth
UCU experienced another year of record-breaking membership growth thanks to key expansions in the higher education community. In the spring, we expanded our partnerships with the university community by adding both UC Davis and UC Irvine. In the fall, we completed a merger with Chabot Credit Union - bringing members of the nearly 60-year-old cooperative into our UCU family. We have loved getting to know our newest members and look forward to adding even more this coming year.
System Upgrade
In 2021, UCU executed a system upgrade to enhance your banking experience and make it even more efficient. These efforts are huge undertakings that require the efforts of our entire team. We thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to provide a superior banking experience.
Major Asset Milestone
As if reaching our 70th anniversary wasn’t enough of a milestone, we hit a monumental goal for the credit union last year. Thanks to our over 50,000 members’ loyalty and participation in our products and services, University Credit Union reached $1 Billion in assets. What does this mean for you? Simply put, growth means we can do even more for you with tailored products and competitive rates, and more for the university communities we support in the form of giving back.
